Schools & Youth Groups

Adventure on the Liffey. Stories on the water. Skills for life.

Programme Overview

Create unforgettable experiences on the historic waters of the River Liffey.

Our programmes place students at the centre of Dublin’s living maritime environment. On the River Liffey, beside the historic Jeanie Johnston, young people engage in structured, confidence‑building activities within a setting shaped by resilience and courage.

Alongside the excitement of watersports and adventure, students also learn about Dublin’s history, the story of the River Liffey, and the rich heritage of traditional Irish boating through our Currachí na Life programme. It’s an immersive way to connect with the past while experiencing the river in the present.

It’s not simply watersports — it’s experiential learning that develops teamwork, leadership and self‑belief in a location rich with meaning.

If you’re planning a school tour, TY programme, youth club outing, or group adventure — this is the most exciting classroom your students will step into this year.

Rowing

Our Transition Year group had an outstanding experience with HQ20 on the River Liffey. From the moment we arrived, the instructors created an atmosphere that was energetic, inclusive and extremely well organised.

What stood out most was how the programme combined genuine fun with meaningful development. Students were challenged to step outside their comfort zones, support one another on the water and take responsibility within their teams. It was fantastic to see quieter students grow in confidence over the course of the day.

The setting itself added something special — being on the River Liffey, with the Jennie Johnston nearby, gave a real sense of connection to Dublin’s heritage. It became more than just a watersports session; it felt like an experience surrounded by history.

Safety standards were excellent, instructions were clear, and the balance between structure and enjoyment was spot on. Our students are still talking about it.

We would highly recommend HQ20 to any school looking for a TY programme that builds confidence, teamwork and resilience — while ensuring the students have a brilliant day outdoors.”
